We stayed at a place called Morningside Safari and went for a run before having a huge curry dinner. We went to bed pretty early as we had to be up just after 5 to start the safari. Our safari was with Sujee (of Sujee's Safaris), a German guy from our hotel and then a German couple from a different hotel. On the way we passed a huge lake to one side and thick jungle on the other side, just as the sun was rising. There was a wild elephant standing right by the side of the road who apparently can be seen there almost daily... Tourists can buy food to give her so she just stood there with her trunk out waiting for food (pretty smart set up she's got going on there).
We got to the park just after 6 and started the safari! Sujee sat in the back with the 5 of us and directed us to all the different animals. He spotted so many that we would've been completely oblivious to like small birds, crocodiles resting on rocks (they blended in completely), a small chameleon standing on the top of a tree branch, a cute little jackal running in the bushes, and some monkeys far off in the trees. Among all of these we also saw a lot of water buffalo (some wild and some local herds that enter the park every day to bathe and eat), as well as elephants (including some little babies!). It was such a cool experience and Katie and I both got some amazing shots. The safari lasted almost 4 hours and it was the perfect day for it... The previous few days had been rainy in the morning but it was clear and sunny for us.
