Ok so it wasn't really Pitbull (in case you thought I was serious), but it looked like him. He made 20 minutes of my drive much more enjoyable because I could see him in my rearview mirror dancing away to his music. He was listening to his iPod with headphones which looked like the earphone a singer or performer would have on during a show. At first I thought he was an undercover cop using a headset and talking to someone because I could see his mouth moving. As I was picturing this another cop car drove by and it looked like Pitbull waved to them. I began to imagine how I was going to be pulled over for reckless driving because I was currently feeding my Tim Hortons breakfast sandwich to my dog in the backseat... And how I would defend myself by comparing my driving to Pitbulls and how I was paying way more attention to the road than he was. This is how crazy my mind works.
Now back to his dancing. His hand gestures were never-ending, even though one hand was being used to hold the iPod his other hand was constantly off the wheel. Probably not the best driving technique but what do I know? His hand gestures included (but were not limited to) the finger point and wave, the "hell naw I'm not having any of that" stop hand signal and some head bobbing.
I imagined him singing to Pitbull songs and I guess I should explain that he was bald and wearing sunglasses (even though it was cloudy) and a purple dress shirt. Basically Mr. Worldwide himself.
As I laughed and continued to watch him I realized this is probably exactly what I look like as I drive and sing away. Sometimes I catch myself getting way too invested in a 1D song and remind myself that people might be watching me and that I should tone it down a bit. But I also feel like if I'm not going all out singing and dancing then it looks like I'm having a casual conversation with myself and that seems weirder. I'm pretty good at not caring what randoms think but seeing it firsthand made me question my previous viewpoint... Perhaps that days life lesson was a gentle reminder that when you think people can't see you dancing and singing in your car they probably can. So be aware....
PS: Later on Pitbull stopped suddenly and pulled over on the highway. I looked as I drove by because I thought maybe he saw a bear or something and needed to stop immediately. Turns out he just needed to take a piss but not before we made awkward eye contact.
PPS: After a bit more driving I stopped at a gas station and Pitbull pulled up. We made awkward eye contact again. WILL THESE ENCOUNTERS NEVER END?!!
